The Heydar Aliyev Center will host an exhibition titled “Caravaggio – Opera Omnia” on December 13. The exhibition will feature up to 40 real size, digital, high resolution masterpieces by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, an Italian painter active in Rome, Naples, Malta, and Sicily from the early 1590s to 1610.

It is a chronological, historic and thematic journey through the artworks of the most significant name of the Baroque era; a kind of imaginary museum where art and technologies, past and future meet in one and the same space.

Caravaggio’s paintings combine a realistic observation of the human state, both physical and emotional, with a dramatic use of lighting, and they had a formative influence on Baroque painting. This exhibition began its travels in 2003 and has had over 10 million viewers from Italy and abroad.

The exhibition at the Heydar Aliyev Center will last until January 24, 2018.
