Enjoy in Baku Zoo
Baku has attractions and sights to suit every taste and interest – and most of them are within walking distance.
A visit to Baku’s Zoo in the city center is always a wild and exciting experience. The Zoo has a lot to offer tourists taking them through some of the most distinctive global wildlife habitats in the world. The zoo keeps both animals living in Azerbaijan and those that not indigenous to the country.
The 4.25 hectares wildlife park, home to over 1,200 species of mammals, birds and reptiles, has been providing exciting wildlife experiences to visitors for over 80 years.
Director of the Baku Zoo Azer Huseynov said that the number of tourists coming to the wildlife park sharply increased recently.
He stressed that the number of tourists coming to the Zoo in Baku, especially from Arab countries, has grown significantly.
“They come to our Family Zoo and enjoy it a lot”, he added.
The Baku Zoo was first opened in 1928. A major reconstruction and renovation work has been recently launched at Baku Zoological Park.
The renovation work will be realized upon the initiative of Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Union, Leyla Aliyeva.
The Zoo will offer easy access to the disabled after reconstruction. The Zoo will become a place where people with disabilities and visitors of all age groups can relax and learn new information. Employees of the Zoo will receive trainings from international specialists.
